Gerry Hernbrode, the eldest of seven children, grew up amazed and entertained by her Father and his friends as they spun tales to outshine one another in Missoula, MT. Gerry brings that story telling heritage to her own writing.

In her books, Provincial Justice and Provincial Sanctuary, Gerry weds her life as a pre-Vatican II Nun with that of her career as an educator which included teaching, school administration in a Tucson inner city school and serving as the teacher representative on the Arizona State Board Education for eight years.

Additionally, her setting for her second book, Provincial Sanctuary reflects a time when Gerry lived at the Kannally Ranch, with her husband, Bob Hernbrode. Bob was the first director of the Center for Environmental Education, which was initially housed at the Kannally Ranch and is now the Visitor Center at Oracle State Park, AZ. Gerry joined him in developing an Educational Environment Curriculum for AZ teachers k-12.

Following retirement from education, Gerry moved to the community of Portal in the Chiricahua mountains of Arizona with her beloved Corgi, Winston, where she devoted her time to writing, serving as an Emergency Medical Technician on Portal Rescue, a volunteer medical and fire-fighting entity and supporting community activities.

Gerry’s first book Provincial Justice is now being republished to accompany her second book, Provincial Sanctuary, which is seeing its first publication. Provincial Sanctuary was written prior to her untimely death 2018.
